Reading this https://thwaitesglacier.org/about/facts it seems like the Rolling Stone article exaggerates the potential contribution of the glacier itself to sea rise. My understanding reading the RS article is that if the entire west Antartica ice sheet were to melt, that would result in a 3m rise in sea levels. Still scary though.
Thanks for the comment and yeah good point. I think it’s getting harder and harder to judge what is doom and gloom and what is optimistic and what is in the middle these days…
