This week’s highlights
[#netzero2022] — BloombergNEF looks back at a year of setbacks and breakthroughs in 5 graphs from levelized costs of electricity from solar and wind that dropped below coal and fossil gas to batteries not being immune to the inflation crisis.
[#roguestartups] — This is insane and should (and probably will, I hope) be stopped. A startup has started to — on behalf of everybody on planet Earth — to start sending sulfur into space in the plan to deflect sunlight. We know from big volcanic eruptions that sulfur will deflect sunlight and thus realize a cooling effect on the Earth. The only problem is that once this strategy has started it can’t be stopped or we’ll get the full force of it back. And nobody really know the long term effects of this. So these rogue attempts to gamble with all our future must be stopped IMO.
[#gaslightning2022] — Here’s good review of what the fossil fuel industry have been up to in 2022 in terms of switching their communication strategy of straight up climate denial into pitching themselves as the solution to the climate crisis hereby providing a perfect Merriam-Webster-esque definition of the word “gaslighting”.
